Barranc del Cint Gorge

Barranc del Cint is a tectonic limestone gorge formed along deep fractures in the rock on the outskirts of Alcoy. Over time, erosion created a steep corridor with sheer walls rising above the narrow floor. The gorge marks a natural transition between the urban landscape and the mountain environment of Sierra de Mariola. Mediterranean shrubs and trees cling to ledges, softening the severe geology. Today the ravine is a key hiking access route from the city into the protected park.
