Svortuloft Lighthouse

The Svortuloft Lighthouse is a bright orange tower perched on sheer lava cliffs extending for four kilometers. The surrounding landscape is quiet and dramatic, with nothing but black rock and vivid orange concrete. The lighthouse provides one of the most strikingly otherworldly views in western Iceland. Access involves crossing a rugged lava field that can be difficult to traverse. From the nearby viewpoint, visitors can see a natural stone arch in the ocean and thousands of nesting seabirds. The cliffs and birds appear massive and tiny at the same time, enhancing the alien feeling of the landscape.
