Cain de Valdeon lies between massive peaks of the western and central Picos de Europa, offering dramatic mountain scenery. The village retains its historic charm, with stone houses pressed against cliffs rising thousands of meters. It marks the start or end of the iconic Ruta del Cares, a premier trekking route in Europe. The surrounding mountains highlight the resilience of the local people, who thrived here for centuries despite isolation.
