Hermitage of Sitjar stands on a natural limestone rise above the artificial basin formed by the Mijares River. Built from local stone and covered with pale plaster, the chapel reflects sunlight and serves as a visual landmark among pine forests and olive groves. The curved shape of the hill allows wide views across the reservoir and the distant mountain ridges of the Espadan range. The surrounding terraces and rock outcrops reveal traces of long term interaction between landscape and rural life.
