The Spanish half runs to hilltop castles, fortified churches and medieval bridges over river canyons; the Icelandic half to small parish churches, turf fishing booths, museums and a Viking-age stronghold ringed by basalt. Hilltop and cliff-edge settings are the rule here, so the last stretch is on foot.
