Lakes

A lake is a natural body of water, usually freshwater, that fills a basin on land. It can form as a result of volcanic activity, tectonic processes, glaciation, or river floodplains. Lakes play an important role in supporting ecosystems, serve as a source of water for humans and animals, and are also used for fishing, recreation, and tourism.
