Lakes

Spain holds most of them, 47 in Aragon alone. In the Pyrenees these are glacial tarns above 2,000 metres, extremely cold even in midsummer; in Valencia and Andalusia, reservoirs with viewpoints over flooded valleys. The Dolomites account for 24, from Lake Braies with its boat rental to Lake Sorapis, a 10-12 km walk from Tre Croci Pass. Iceland's 21 run to crater lakes, glacier lagoons and highland lakes reached only by 4x4 on roads that open in summer.
