Waterfalls

Iceland and Spain hold nearly all of them — 108 and 101 — with five more on Madeira and two in the Dolomites. The Icelandic falls cluster in the south and east, dropping over basalt lips and columnar cliffs, many of them a five-minute walk from a Ring Road car park. In Spain they sit in the limestone gorges of Aragon, Valencia and Andalusia, often an hour's walk in, with cold pools below for swimming. The highland falls in Iceland need a 4x4 and a river ford, and their roads open only in summer.
