Geitafoss

Almost everyone who stops at Goðafoss walks past its wilder sibling a few minutes downstream. Geitafoss — the 'Goats' Falls' — is where the glacial Skjálfandafljót squeezes into a narrow channel and drops in one short, violently powerful surge. There is none of Goðafoss's graceful curve; the draw is raw force at close range, usually with almost no one watching. A path from the west bank reaches it, or a steep ladder towards the river — as far up as the river's salmon can climb.
