Zahara de la Sierra

Zahara de la Sierra

Zahara de la Sierra is a historic settlement crowned by the ruins of an ancient Moorish castle atop a rocky peak. The whitewashed houses create a striking contrast against the deep blue lake and the lush greenery of the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park. Narrow cobbled streets lead to the central square and viewpoints that offer panoramic vistas of the entire valley below. The town holds the status of a Cultural Interest Site due to its impeccable layout and authentic atmosphere. Exploring this fortress provides a deep insight into the defensive architecture of the Reconquista era.
