What makes it special
The sand is reddish, and after the pale beaches of Menorca's south coast that colour is the first thing you notice. On a still day the water lies calm, clear enough to watch fish moving over the bottom.
Nothing has been built here. There is no bar or kiosk, so the cove stays sand, rock and sea, and you bring everything you need.
Cala Presili and Platja d'en Tortuga lie close by, so one trip to this stretch of coast takes in all three beaches.
Good to know
- There are no bars, shops or kiosks at the beach. Bring your own food and drink.
- No toilets and no drinking water at the beach or nearby. Fill your bottles before you set off.
- The nearest mapped car parks are about 2 km away in a straight line, so plan for a walk.
- Cala Presili and Platja d'en Tortuga lie close by, and one trip covers all three.
Getting there
Most people arrive by car. Two car parks sit about 2 km from the beach in a straight line, and the rest of the way is on foot.
There is nothing to buy along the way or at the sand, so load food and water into the car before you leave town.
The nearest named bus stop is at Es Grau, about 3.4 km away in a straight line; another stop lies about 2 km from the beach.
Best time to visit
Best: a still, windless day from late spring to early autumn, arriving early or late in the day.
Avoid: windy days, and the peak weeks of August.
With no wind the water in the cove lies calm and clear, while wind off the sea brings waves onto an open shore, and in August Menorca's beaches fill.
