Mequinenza Mine Museum

Mequinenza Mine Museum is located inside the historic Mina María coal mine and offers a kilometer-long route through authentic shafts and galleries. The exhibition illustrates the evolution of mining, from manual picks and horse teams to modern mining machinery and hydraulic supports. The underground environment reproduces sedimentary layers and Mesozoic rock formations, giving visitors scientific and historical context. The contrast between dark corridors and the bright river landscapes outside highlights the miners’ challenging work. The museum is part of a larger complex including the History Museum and the Prehistoric Museum, preserving the industrial heritage of the region.
