Santa Maria Church and Auditorium

About the place
Santa Maria Church and Auditorium rises naturally from the red sandstone cliffs above the Guadalaviar River. Its massive walls and high vaulted ceilings create a sense of space carved directly from the rock. The building connects the lower riverside walkways with the upper defensive walls of Albarracin. Curved niches and intricate stone masonry reflect centuries of transformation from a Moorish fortress to a Christian cultural center. After extensive restoration, the church now hosts classical concerts and international events, offering one of the best views of the canyon from its cliffside terrace.
