Vall de Laguar

Vall de Laguar is a cluster of mountain villages β Fleix, Campell and Benimaurell, plus the small settlement of Fontilles β in the interior of Alicante's Marina Alta. The reason hikers come is the Barranc de l'Infern, "Hell's Canyon", a gorge with walls over a hundred metres high and as little as ten metres wide at points. The classic PR-CV 147 loop runs on old stone steps β counted at more than 6,000 β starting in Fleix, crossing the canyon twice with steep zigzags, and finishing with a hard climb up to Benimaurell. It's a demanding full-day walk, best done outside the summer heat and with an early start. Beyond the trail, the villages are quiet, with terraced hillsides and long views over the Marina Alta.
