What makes it special

Quiet is the draw. Cala Tarida, just down the road, fills up with people; Cala Molí, a secluded bay on the same western shore, stays calm, with pebbles underfoot and clear water over the stones.

The one restaurant on the beach, El Silencio, belongs to a hotel and is on the upscale side. The hotel also has its own pool area.

The cove faces west. Late in the day the sun drops over open sea, and the stones turn gold.

Good to know

  • The shore is pebbles and shingle, with sand in places; water shoes make getting in easier.
  • There is one restaurant, part of a hotel and on the upscale side. It works on reservations and has limited space, so book ahead.
  • No drinking water nearby — bring your own.
  • The road down has plenty of ups and downs and is rough in places; drive it slowly.

Getting there

Cala Molí lies down the road from Cala Tarida, on the same stretch of the west coast. The road down has plenty of ups and downs and is rough in places, so take it slowly.

The nearest parking is about 50 m away. A second car park, on gravel, lies about 600 m away.

Without a car, the nearest bus stops are Cala Tarida and Cala Corral, about 1.4 km and 1.5 km away in a straight line. The walk along the road is longer than that.

Best time to visit

Best: late afternoon into the evening.

Avoid: the middle of a summer day.

The cove faces west, so the evening light comes in low off the sea, while at a summer midday the sun stands straight overhead and the stones heat up.
