Consuegra

About the place
The town of Consuegra is situated at the foot of Calderico Hill, where a line of 16th-century windmills stands along the ridge. These stone towers with wooden sails gained worldwide fame as the setting for scenes in the novel Don Quixote. Looming over the town is the Castle of Consuegra, which served as the seat of the Order of Saint John in the 12th century. Beyond its landmarks, the town is renowned for saffron production and traditional crafts. Each year, it hosts festivals celebrating the harvest and knightly traditions, while the town's architecture preserves the authentic atmosphere of the Spanish heartland.
