Devil's Bridge

Devil's Bridge

About the place

Devil's Bridge appears fragile yet daring amid the massive cliffs of Olvena Gorge, challenging gravity with its elegant stonework. The view from the bridge offers dramatic panoramas of the turbulent Ésera River far below. Its medieval construction atop earlier Romanesque foundations demonstrates the ingenuity of past builders. According to legend, the bridge was built overnight with the devil’s help to save locals from dangerous river crossings. Before modern roads, it served as a strategic passage controlling access to high Pyrenean valleys.
