Embalse de El Grado I

About the place

Embalse de El Grado I stretches along a deep valley, with cliffs and carved shores reminiscent of Norwegian fjords. The interplay of vertical limestone walls and submerged terraces creates a unique and dramatic shoreline. The turquoise water reflects the surrounding pine forests and sky, enhancing the natural beauty of the site. Below the surface lie the remnants of old roads and bridges, relics of the landscape before the dam was completed in 1969. The reservoir is a central element of regional irrigation, sustaining agriculture across the Sobrarbe area.
