Iglesia de Mipanas

About the place
Iglesia de Mipanas is built from finely hewn stone, showcasing the rustic Romanesque-Gothic style of Sobrarbe. It sits on a riverside terrace where limestone meets alluvial deposits, creating a dramatic natural backdrop. The steep slopes around the church, covered with forest and shrubs, enhance its isolated and contemplative atmosphere. Although the village was largely abandoned during the creation of the El Grado reservoir, the church remains a silent witness to the past. From its walls, visitors can see the reflective waters and imagine the scale of landscape changes caused by the dam.
