Guinate Viewpoint is a public lookout on the cliffs of Lanzarote's north coast, beside the small village of Guinate in the municipality of Haría. It looks out along the coastline and across the sea to La Graciosa and several smaller islands of the archipelago north of Lanzarote. It is known as a quieter alternative to the island's better-known viewpoints and as a place to watch the sunset.

What makes it special
La Graciosa lies spread out across the strait below, its volcanic cones and pale sand laid flat like a relief map, with the smaller islets further out to sea. The water between them runs turquoise, and the cliffs of the north coast fall away on either side.
Guinate stays quiet. It sees far fewer people than the better-known viewpoints on Lanzarote, so there is room to stand, take your photographs and simply look. The viewing area is laid out with care, and an information board stands beside it.
Come towards the end of the day. As the sun drops over the open sea, the low light catches La Graciosa and the cliff faces, and the view is at its best.
Good to know
- There are no toilets and no drinking water at the viewpoint or anywhere close by. Bring water with you.
- The wind on the cliff top can be very strong. Bring a warm layer and keep a grip on hats and phones.
- The view is the whole visit. On a hazy or cloudy day there is little to see, so check the sky before you drive up.
- Parking at the viewpoint fills up, but cars come and go quickly. When it is full, park in the village and walk the last 10–15 minutes.
Getting there
Guinate Viewpoint sits on the cliff edge by the village of Guinate, in the north of Lanzarote within the municipality of Haría. A car is the practical way to get here.
There is parking at the viewpoint itself. It fills up, but cars come and go and a space rarely takes long to free up. If you would rather not wait, leave the car in the village and walk the last stretch, 10–15 minutes on foot. The nearest separately mapped car parks lie about 650 m and 1.3 km away in a straight line.
By bus, the closest stop is Cruce de Guinate, about 1.2 km away in a straight line, which leaves a walk of its own at the end of the ride.
Best time to visit
Best: a clear late afternoon, staying on for sunset. Avoid: hazy or overcast days, and days of very strong wind if you have small children with you.
The view across to La Graciosa is the reason to come and it needs clear air, while the cliff faces the open sea and takes the low evening light straight on.
