Madeira Botanical Garden
About the place
The Madeira Botanical Garden is located about 3 km from the center of Funchal and covers an area of approximately 8 hectares. It features a rich plant collection — over 2,500 species from five continents, including many endemic species of the archipelago. From its terraces, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of Funchal and the bay, making it an ideal place for a nature walk. The garden includes themed areas with succulents, ferns, and tropical plants, as well as a natural history museum and a bird exhibit. All of this adds educational and recreational value to the visit.
