What makes it special
The colour of the water is what you remember. From the deck the bay shows turquoise over soft sand, with the beach of Cala Galdana directly underneath and the open Mediterranean beyond it. On a clear day Mallorca sits on the horizon.
Late in the day the point becomes a sunset spot. Come outside the summer season and the sea below is empty of swimmers, which leaves the view to the water itself and the wind moving across the headland.
Good to know
- There are no toilets and no drinking water at the viewpoint or nearby, so bring water with you.
- The climb up runs to more than 200 steps; plan for it if anyone in your group struggles with stairs.
- The point catches the wind. Bring a layer, even on a warm day.
- On the road up, about 350 m before the viewpoint, a path leaves on the left for Cala Mitjana, an easy walk of 15 to 20 minutes.
Getting there
Two car parks lie close to the deck, the nearer about 86 m away and the other about 219 m. The way up to the viewpoint involves more than 200 steps.
Without a car, the nearest bus stop is Cala Galdana - Platja, down by the beach and about 557 m away in a straight line; Cala Galdana - Rotonda is about 783 m away.
On the road leading to the viewpoint, about 350 m before it, a path branches off on the left to the neighbouring bay of Cala Mitjana. The walk there is easy and takes 15 to 20 minutes, so the two fit into one outing.
Best time to visit
Best: late afternoon into sunset, and any clear day outside the summer season.
Avoid: hazy days, and very windy ones if you plan to linger on the deck.
The point faces the evening light, clear air is what brings Mallorca into view, and out of season the bay below is empty of swimmers, so the turquoise water reads cleanly from above.
