Mogrovejo

About the place
The village of Mogrovejo is a designated historic-artistic site where the architectural character has remained virtually unchanged for centuries. The settlement is dominated by a formidable 13th-century stone tower, surrounded by ancestral mansions bearing coats of arms and traditional timber-framed stone houses. Perched on a slope, the village offers sweeping views of the craggy peaks of the Cantabrian Mountains, making it one of the most photographed locations in the region. Mogrovejo also gained fame as the filming location for the movie "Heidi," as its landscapes perfectly evoke the feeling of classic Alpine scenery. The site serves as a living open-air museum of northern Spanish rural life.
