El Castillo (Bulnes)

About the place
El Castillo is the old quarter of Bulnes village, once isolated and accessible only by narrow mountain trails until 2001. The stone houses with tile roofs seem to grow from the rocks, preserving traditional high-mountain life. From the quarter, visitors can admire sharp peaks and deep green valleys, creating a sense of timeless seclusion. The surrounding cliffs emphasize the resilience and endurance of the villagers over centuries. El Castillo is also known for the production of famous Cabrales cheese, matured in natural caves nearby.
