Museum of the Royal Site of Covadonga

About the place
Museum of the Royal Site of Covadonga is housed in the former Escolania building facing the Basilica. The exhibition spans more than a thousand years of history, from the early medieval origins of the sanctuary to the nineteenth century. Royal offerings, manuscripts, jewelry, and artworks illustrate the growth of Covadonga as a spiritual and political landmark. The stone architecture of the museum blends naturally with the mountain landscape of the Picos de Europa National Park. The museum forms an essential part of the sacred ensemble connecting the Holy Cave, the Basilica, and surrounding historic spaces.
