Museu CR7

Every trophy Ronaldo has won is under one roof, from the youth cups he took at CF Andorinha in Madeira to the ones he won with Portugal.

Museu CR7 is a museum in Funchal, on the Portuguese island of Madeira, dedicated to Cristiano Ronaldo. It occupies 1,400 square metres below the Pestana CR7 hotel, on the seafront square that carries his name. The display holds the trophies he won at CF Andorinha, Nacional da Madeira, Sporting CP, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus and Al-Nassr, and with the Portugal national team, along with photographs, videos and wax figures. A bronze statue of him stands outside. Funchal is his birthplace, which is why the museum is here.

What makes it special

The collection follows a whole career, not just its famous part. Youth trophies from CF Andorinha and Nacional da Madeira stand alongside cups won at Sporting CP, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus and Al-Nassr, and with the Portugal national team. Photographs and videos tell the same story. Wax figures of Ronaldo are set against painted backdrops made for photographs, and shirts, boots and footballs from particular matches are on display. Letters written to Ronaldo by fans are shown too, some of them from 2026. The floor is laid as Portuguese pavement, with the museum logo set into it.

Good to know

  • Time needed. Half an hour covers a walk round. Reading every caption and watching the videos takes at least two hours.
  • The statue. The bronze Ronaldo by Ricardo Velosa stands on the square outside and gets busy with people photographing it.
  • Photo with Ronaldo. A photograph taken with the on-screen Ronaldo costs €5 on top of the ticket.
  • Shop. The way out leads through a CR7 shop selling wristbands, mugs, bags and signed shirts.
  • Facilities. There are toilets on site, and the museum is set up for children.

Getting there

Museu CR7 stands on Praça CR7 on the Funchal seafront, below the Pestana CR7 hotel and near the port. The entrance is at square level, and stairs lead down past the shop into the galleries. Drivers park beneath the building. The bronze statue on the square marks the spot from a distance.

Best time to visit

Better: a wet day. The whole museum is indoors, so rain changes nothing here.

Avoid: Sunday, when the museum does not open.

Light and season make no difference to the exhibits, which are lit the same at any hour. The only open-air part is the statue on the square, and that is where the crowd with cameras gathers.
