Parco Naturale Puez Odle is a nature reserve in the Dolomites, in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano – South Tyrol in northern Italy. It protects high limestone ground and the ridges around it, crossed by trails used for hiking and climbing in the warm months and for skiing in winter. Huts on the slopes serve food, and the park runs its own visitor centre. The Seceda cable car carries walkers up to the ridge for a separate fare. Whichever way you arrive, the approach finishes on foot.

What makes it special
Paths climb out of spruce woods onto open rock: resin and damp needles below, wind and pale stone above. The trails carry hikers in summer and skiers in winter, and huts on the slopes sell food, so a full day out needs no packed lunch. Climbers work the rock here as well. The Seceda cable car saves the climb to the ridge — a paid ride of its own, and one visitor in 2026 called the fare outrageous. The park is UNESCO-protected and runs its own visitor centre.
Good to know
- Nothing waiting at the trailhead. No toilets, drinking water or information point within 800 m of the park.
- The roads up are narrow. One visitor called them dangerously narrow and advises taking the bus to the car park instead.
- The Seceda lift costs extra. The cable car is a paid ride of its own; one visitor in 2026 called the price outrageous.
- Food is on the mountain. Huts on the slopes serve meals, and the park keeps a visitor centre.
- Dogs and children are fine. Dogs are allowed, and the park suits a day out with children.
Getting there
The last stretch is on foot whichever way you come. The nearest car parks sit about 2.3 km from the park, the closer of the two unpaved, and the roads climbing to them are narrow — one visitor who drove up in 2022 advises taking the bus instead and found the service efficient and reliable. By bus the walk in is longer still: the closest stop is roughly 4.5 km out, so plan the approach as part of the day rather than as a transfer.
