What makes it special

The sea is what stays with you: clear, bright water off a beach of pale sand, with hotels and bars along the front behind it. Next to the beach the scene turns into a harbour, where yachts and small boats lie moored in a small inlet and restaurants and shops ring the waterfront. That pairing is Cala'n Bosch. A swim, then lunch by the boats.

The resort is modern and contemporary in style. Food runs from Menorcan dishes to tapas, Chinese and fast food, and a mini-market sells supplies and drinks. Expect prices by the harbour to run a little higher than in quieter resorts.

Good to know

  • No public toilets on the beach or nearby, and no drinking fountain. Bring water or buy it in the resort.
  • Sunbed hire cannot be counted on, and where there are sunbeds they are taken early in the morning. Bring your own shade.
  • The sand carries grit, old seaweed and sharp bits of palm leaf in places, so beach shoes help.
  • In July and August the beach gets packed. Come early if you want space on the sand.

Getting there

Most people arrive on foot from the resort, where many hotels sit a short walk from the sand. By car, there are two car parks about 150 m away in a straight line; one of them is free but meant for customers, and space is limited. By bus, the Playa Cala'n Bosch stop is about 180 m away, and a second stop, Gran via de Son Xoriguer, 1, about 250 m. From either, you walk through the resort streets down to the beach.

Best time to visit

Best: mid-September, when the water and weather still hold and there are fewer people than in July and August.

Avoid: July and August if you want room, when the beach is crowded and any sunbeds go early in the morning.

The beach is open sand with no natural shade, so midday in high summer is hot and the space fills from the morning on.
