Alarcon Viewpoint

About the place

Alarcon Viewpoint looks out over a town almost entirely surrounded by a deep canyon — one glance and it is clear why a fortress was built here. From this height you can make out the thick castle walls, the main tower, and the narrow strip of land that was the only way into the town from the outside. Below, sheer cliffs drop to a river that wraps tightly around the rock in a bright green loop. The best time to visit is just before sunset, when the stone turns warm and golden and the whole scene becomes especially striking. It is one of those viewpoints where medieval history is written right into the landscape.
