Brihuega Lavender Fields

About the place
The Brihuega lavender fields span about 1,000 hectares, around 10% of global lavender production, turning the rural plateau lilac in summer. Peak bloom is in July, when the harvest is also celebrated with a two-day Lavender Festival, with concerts staged right among the rows. These are private commercial plantations grown for essential oils and cosmetics, so not every field is freely accessible; some growers open marked plots or run paid sunset visits in season. Walking the aligned rows at dusk, with the scent at its strongest, is the reason most people make the trip. The medieval town of Brihuega sits alongside, often called a slice of Provence in central Spain.
