Bocairent

Bocairent

About the place

Bocairent is built into a sheer rocky slope, where houses appear as a natural continuation of the cliffs themselves. The town rises vertically, with streets turning into staircases and rooftops forming natural viewpoints. Deep ravines and karst formations surround the settlement, reinforcing its fortress-like character. The landscape of Serra de Mariola adds mountain herbs, stone textures, and a sense of quiet isolation. Across the gorge lie the enigmatic Les Covetes dels Moros, artificial cave windows carved into a vertical rock face, whose purpose remains uncertain. Medieval squares, stone bridges, and timeworn facades preserve the authentic spirit of a mountain stronghold shaped by both nature and history.
