What makes it special

Walk out into the water and it turns clear, with schools of fish moving over the bottom. That is the reason to pack a mask.

Cala des Mago is a clothing-optional cove, and a sign at the beach says so plainly. The sandy part is small. Much of the crowd settles on the rocks around it instead, lying out and eating lunch a step from the sea. Pines run down the slopes behind, and the rocks give the best views over the bay.

Two more beaches sit right next door, so the cove works as the naturist corner of a stretch of coast with room for everyone.

Good to know

  • It is a nudist beach, marked by a sign. If you would prefer to stay dressed, use one of the two beaches right next to it.
  • There are no toilets and no drinking water at the cove or nearby, so bring water with you.
  • The sandy part is small and fills fast; many people lie on the rocks, so a mat or thick towel helps.
  • The cove gets crowded, and the parking spaces at the end of the road go to early arrivals.
  • There is no wheelchair-accessible parking or entrance.

Getting there

Most people come by car along the road towards Portals Vells, and the final stretch down to the cove is steep. Free parking lies about 44 m and 71 m away in a straight line; the El Mago car park has a sand surface. From the free car park the walk to the beach takes about five minutes. Arrive early and you can drive all the way to the end of the road and may find a space there.

The nearest bus stop is Sol de Mallorca, about 620 m away in a straight line, and the rest is on foot. Magaluf is a long walk away, and quad bike tours from there stop at the cove.

Best time to visit

Best: early in the morning, or in late spring and early autumn.

Avoid: the middle of the day in July and August.

The cove gets crowded in summer, the small sandy strip fills first, and the parking at the end of the road goes to whoever arrives early.

Access & restrictions

Cala des Mago is a nudist beach, and a sign at the beach asks visitors to respect that. Clothing is optional, and the etiquette of any naturist beach applies: do not stare, and do not photograph other bathers. Anyone who wants to stay dressed has the two beaches right next to it.
