Charco de la Horteta is a hidden oasis in a very dry region. The surrounding landscape features sun-scorched limestone cliffs and rocky terraces. The cool, mineral-rich water contrasts sharply with the arid surroundings. Over millennia, water has carved a nearly perfect circular basin into the hard rock. Nearby remnants of old irrigation channels highlight the historical importance of water in this part of Valencia.
