Chillar River Cave

About the place
Chillar River Cave is a natural rock hollow formed by the persistent erosive action of flowing water over centuries. It is discovered by hikers following the riverbed route, which requires walking directly through the shallow waters of the canyon. The interior and surrounding area showcase typical limestone formations and lush riparian vegetation adapted to the humid environment. The cave serves as a frequent resting spot for visitors navigating the narrow gorges, known as "los cahorros," in search of shade. The surrounding landscape features dramatic vertical walls that maintain a cool microclimate even during the peak of the Andalusian summer.
