Cerrada del Utrero Trail

About the place
The Cerrada del Utrero trail offers one of the most iconic walks in the province of Jaen, leading through a rugged landscape of ancient karst formations. The route clings to the side of the gorge, providing constant views of the emerald-colored river flowing far below the path. Along the way, hikers can observe griffon vultures nesting in the high crevices of the "Lanchon" cliffs that tower over the valley. A major highlight of the trek is the Cascada de Linarejos, a slender waterfall that plunges down the rock face after periods of rain. The journey concludes by passing through dense Mediterranean forests, showcasing the rich botanical diversity of Spain's largest protected natural area.
