Montaña Roja Special Nature Reserve

About the place
The Montaña Roja Special Nature Reserve is a unique area of about 166 hectares located in the south of Tenerife, in the municipality of Granadilla de Abona. The central feature of the area is the Montaña Roja volcanic cone, approximately 171 meters high, formed by the merging of volcanic activity with the sea. The park includes a coastal zone with dunes, beaches, dry soils, and unique sandy ecosystems, home to protected bird species and plants adapted to harsh conditions. It is an ideal place for walking, nature observation, and enjoying the extraordinary landscape against the backdrop of the ocean.
