Nervion Falls

About the place
Nervion Falls rises at the source of the Nervion River on the border of Alava and Burgos, plunging from the immense Delicho cliff amphitheater. The canyon’s horseshoe shape and sheer vertical walls enhance the dramatic spectacle, while the thermals above allow griffon vultures and other birds of prey to soar. During rainy seasons or snowmelt, the waterfall releases a massive column of water that is often whipped into mist before reaching the canyon floor, creating a surreal, almost magical scene. Most of the year, the falls are dry, making their active phase a rare and treasured event. The site combines raw natural power with the elegance of centuries, as the Mirador del Salto platform hangs literally over the precipice, offering breathtaking views.
