Parc Natural de ses Salines is a protected natural park in southern Ibiza, established in 1991 to preserve the unique ecosystem of salt marshes, dunes and pine forests. The salt flats – still worked using traditional methods – create a striking landscape of whites, blues and ochres that shift throughout the day. Walkways cross the marshes and wetlands where flamingos arrive seasonally, alongside other migratory birds. The varied colours and open terrain make it ideal for birdwatching, walking and cycling. A restaurant sits within the park.

Best time to visit
Better: January to July, when flamingos are present. They normally arrive by the end of January and stay through at least July, with peak activity from February to May. Avoid: August onwards when most flamingos have departed. The park remains beautiful year-round for its landscape and other migratory birds, but the flamingos are a primary attraction.
