Ronda

About the place

The city of Ronda is a historic settlement perched on two rocky plateaus at an altitude of over 700 meters. Its most iconic landmark is the New Bridge (Puente Nuevo), which spans the 98-meter deep chasm to connect the Moorish old town with the newer districts. The historic center features well-preserved Arab baths, aristocratic palaces, and defensive walls from various periods. Ronda is widely regarded as the birthplace of modern bullfighting, and its 18th-century bullring is constructed entirely from stone. The surrounding viewpoints offer wide vistas of the Serranía de Ronda mountain range.
