Tristaina Sundial Balcony

About the place
The Tristaina Sundial Balcony is a major engineering landmark consisting of a large metallic ring with a diameter of 25 meters. The structure functions as a giant sundial with a central gnomon that marks the time on the circular walkway. It is positioned at the top of the Ordino Arcalis ski resort and can be reached via a combination of a gondola lift and a chairlift. The balcony provides a unique perspective of the glacial cirque of Tristaina and the border between Andorra and France. Its location was chosen specifically because it remains in sunlight for the longest duration during the summer solstice in the region.
