Aigualluts Sinkhole

About the place
Aigualluts Sinkhole is a natural limestone swallow-hole located at the base of the highest peaks in the Maladeta massif. The geological wonder swallows the torrential waters of the Esera River, which then travel four kilometers through hidden tunnels. Surrounding the abyss is a lush green meadow that offers a direct view of the imposing Aneto glacier. This site serves as a prime example of high-mountain erosion and the complex hydrological systems of the region. Hikers frequently visit this spot to witness the river plunging into the depths of the rock.
