Ainsa

About the place

Aínsa is a monumental town that occupies a commanding position above the river valleys of the Sobrarbe region. The medieval core is remarkably well preserved, featuring a central square with arcades surrounded by stone houses. The Castillo de Aínsa, dating from the eleventh century, crowns the town and dominates the skyline. The Romanesque Church of Santa María adds architectural depth and historical significance. The surrounding landscape of rocky slopes and distant snow-capped peaks of the Pyrenees enhances the town’s dramatic and cohesive character.
