Barranc del Infern

About the place

Barranc del Infern is a deep geological gorge formed by the persistent erosion of the Girona River over centuries. The canyon walls consist of sheer limestone cliffs dotted with numerous caves and historic agricultural terraces. The hiking route follows an intricate network of stone stairways originally constructed by the Moors to cultivate the steep slopes. The landscape is characterized by its wild nature and stark scenery which transforms significantly with the seasonal flow of water. This location is considered one of the most iconic and physically demanding natural landmarks within the entire Valencian Community.
