Calomarde Waterfall

About the place
The waterfall, also known as Molino Viejo (Old Mill), has carved a deep basin in the limestone over centuries, creating a natural cathedral-like setting. The surrounding cliffs, colored red by local minerals, rise steeply, framing the cascade within a narrow gorge filled with lush riparian vegetation. During winter, the water often freezes into giant icicles, enhancing the magical atmosphere. Nearby begins the famous Blanca River canyon trail with hanging bridges (Ruta de los Puentes Colgantes), offering immersive exploration of this rugged landscape. The site combines raw natural power with the elegance of centuries, as the ruins of the old mill harmoniously integrate into the environment.
