Canfranc International Railway Station

About the place
Canfranc International Railway Station stretches for 241 meters and resembles a grand palace set deep within a narrow alpine valley. Its long facade combines classical symmetry with Art Deco elements, sharply contrasting with the raw mountain landscape. The station was built on an artificial platform carved from unstable terrain at the foot of steep glacial slopes. To protect it from avalanches and landslides, massive engineering systems and large scale reforestation reshaped the surrounding mountainsides. After decades of abandonment, the restored complex has gained a second life as a luxury hotel while preserving its atmosphere of border intrigue and wartime mystery.
