Frigiliana

About the place

The town of Frigiliana is a labyrinth of narrow cobbled streets decorated with flower pots and traditional white lime wash. Its Mudéjar historic quarter is regarded as one of the most authentic examples of Arabic urban planning in the Axarquía region. Ceramic plaques mounted on house walls tell the historical story of the coexistence between Christians, Muslims, and Jews. Numerous terraces throughout the village offer panoramic vistas of subtropical valleys and the Costa del Sol coastline. The town is also famous for producing Europe’s only cane honey, manufactured in the former palace of the local counts.
