Playa de las Vistas is a beach of imported golden sand in Arona, in the south of Tenerife, next to the resort of Los Cristianos. It is laid out as an accessible beach, with lifeguards on duty who also help people into the water. Showers, changing rooms, toilets, a fountain and hired sunbeds and umbrellas serve the sand, with restaurants and cafés a short walk away. Artificial rock formations stand in the water, which is generally fairly calm.

What makes it special
Put a mask on and swim out to any of the artificial rock formations. Shoals of fish in real variety hang around them, and they barely shift as you drift past.
The rest of the day takes care of itself. The sand is soft, golden and imported, cleaned every day, and the water is about as calm as the Atlantic gets, with enough of a wave to play in. Lifeguards watch the shore and help visitors with limited mobility into the sea, so they get to swim here too. Showers, toilets and sunbeds are on hand, and the restaurants and cafés for lunch are a short walk from the sand.
Good to know
- The seabed drops away quickly, so the water gets deep close to shore.
- The beach fills at peak hours; arrive early if you want a good spot for your sunbed.
- Sunbeds and umbrellas are for hire; outside the umbrellas the sand has no shade.
- Showers stand at the entrance, with changing rooms and free public toilets close by.
- Pack a snorkel mask: the fish gather around the artificial rocks in the water.
Getting there
You arrive by car or by bus and cover the last stretch on foot. Two car parks lie about 120 and 180 m from the beach, and the farther one is free. The nearest bus stop, El Camisón, is about 460–510 m away in a straight line. The Los Cristianos tourist office stands about 75 m from the beach, a useful landmark if you are walking in from the town. Showers greet you at the entrance to the sand.
Best time to visit
Best: early in the day, before the beach fills.
Avoid: peak hours in the middle of the day.
The beach gets busy at its peak, and the best spots for sunbeds go to whoever arrives first. Around midday the sun stands high over open sand, with no shade except the hired umbrellas.
