What makes it special

The trophies are what you come for: the silverware of the king of clay, shown on the grounds of the academy he built in his home town.

The galleries reach well beyond one career. Stories, video, music and the achievements of many other athletes run through them, and the exhibits are interactive, so they hold a visitor who has never watched a tennis match. Children are well catered for.

The academy is the other half of the visit. A guided tour takes you around the grounds and training facilities, and the sheer scale of the place is what stays with you. Afterwards there is a terrace for a drink and a snack in the sun, and a shop of clothing and branded gifts at reasonable prices.

Good to know

  • Book the guided tour of the academy online before you come.
  • The academy tour is lengthy and mostly outdoors, in full Mallorcan sun: bring a hat and water in summer.
  • The exhibits cover sport as a whole, so the museum works for children and for visitors with no interest in tennis.
  • The terrace serves drinks and snacks, so there is no need to leave the academy to eat.

Getting there

The museum stands within the Rafa Nadal Academy on the edge of Manacor, on the road out towards Cales de Mallorca. Most people arrive by car: there is free parking on site, with one car park about 80 m away and a customers' car park about 120 m away, so you leave the car and walk straight in.

Without a car, the nearest bus stop is Rambla Rei en Jaume, about 590 m away in a straight line, with the Joan Miró stop about 810 m away.

Best time to visit

Best: a wet day, or the hottest hours of a summer day, when the beaches lose their pull.

Avoid: a late-afternoon start if you are booking the academy tour as well.

The galleries are indoors whatever the weather, while the academy tour is lengthy and outdoors, and it needs time of its own before the museum closes.
