Bernatuara Lake
About the place
Bernatuara Lake is a high mountain glacial lake set at the bottom of a deep cirque between the Bujaruelo and Gavarnie valleys. Its smooth oval outline and turquoise water make it one of the most recognizable lakes in the central Pyrenees. The lake has no visible surface outlets, which gives it a closed and quiet appearance among the rocks. The ascent involves steep mountain trails offering panoramic views of the snowy peaks within the Ordesa National Park. From the surrounding slopes visitors can see wide views of ridges and distant snowy peaks.
