Cala Es Canaret

Crystal clear water teeming with life and hidden from the main road by green cliffs.

Cala Es Canaret is a hidden cove on the northern coast of Ibiza, with no typical beach—just a concrete platform and stone descent for entering the water. Boats dock here; swimmers and snorkelers use the same ramp. The walk down from the main road takes about 30 minutes through views of blue water and green plants. The cove fills with visitors during high season but stays quiet outside it.

What makes it special

The water is crystal clear and teeming with life for snorkellers. The descent to the cove gives you views the whole way—blue water and green plants—and the cove itself sits isolated, surrounded by cliffs and small gardens. Locals moor boats here; the place feels lived-in and quiet, not a stripped resort beach.

Good to know

Driving access: The road from the main route is rough and not ideal for low cars. Drive slowly or park on the side near the start of the trail.

The walk: About 30 minutes downhill from the road to the water. The path is well marked and easy to follow.

Water and swimming: Calm and shallow near the ramp. Excellent for snorkelling. Crowds are heavy in summer, light outside the season.

Getting out: The walk back uphill takes 30–45 minutes depending on fitness.

Getting there

Park on the side of the main road—the entrance road is poor for cars. The path down takes about 30 minutes, well marked through green vegetation. At the bottom is a concrete ramp, the only way to the water.

Best time to visit

Better: May to September, when the water is calm and warm.

Avoid: July and August, when crowds are heaviest.

The cove sits on an exposed coast and fills with day-trippers in summer, leaving it quiet and peaceful outside that season.
