Cala Mesquida

Cala Mesquida

About the place

Cala Mesquida is a roughly 350-metre stretch of fine sand framed by pine-covered hills and one of Mallorca's best-preserved dune systems, protected as a nature reserve since 1991. You reach the sand not by steps but along a raised wooden boardwalk that crosses the dunes from the car park, keeping the fragile habitat intact. Because it faces open sea, the water is shallow at the shoreline but the waves are often larger than in sheltered coves, which makes it popular with bodyboarders. There are sun loungers for rent, a beach bar and seasonal lifeguards, and a short walk leads over to neighbouring Cala Agulla. The free car park fills early in summer, often by around 10:30, so arrive in the morning or come outside peak hours.
